"(Selling fruits and vegetables at the Farmers Market) has helped me get more self-esteem and become more independent."
Rochelle Barton, sophomore at North Park High School, said selling fruits and vegetables as an apprentice at Tacolcy Farmers’ Market has helped her to get out of her shell.
"I’m getting more self-esteem and getting more independent. I am talking to more people and I’m not so shy, when I’m selling fruits and vegetables," Rochelle said.
Besides shining as a salesgirl at Tacolcy Farmers Market, Rochelle said she enjoys working in the garden at Gulc, where she helps to tend the garden by planting, pulling out weeds and watering.
“My favorite part is spending time outside and trying new things like fruits and stuff.” … “The most interesting thing I tried was karobi,” she added.
